Oscillation-assisted turning

Turning is a key process for manufacturing rotationally symmetrical components. One of the biggest challenges here is the formation of long chips or tangled chips, which have a negative impact on process reliability and efficiency.

With VibroCut oscillate, an additional oscillating movement is superimposed on the turning process, which forces the chips to break. This prevents machine downtime, increases process reliability and boosts productivity and efficiency.

VibroCut oscillate – Reliable chip breaking during turning

The VibroCut oscillate tool holders superimpose a targeted oscillation movement on the turning process, which changes the process kinematics and optimizes chip breaking. This additional movement creates predetermined breaking points in the chip, resulting in short broken chips.

The unique feature of the technology is the reliable chip breaking, which is achieved regardless of the material. Due to the robust kinematic principle, chip breaking in oscillation-assisted turning is also robust against material batch fluctuations or tool wear, making it ideal for conditions in industrial production.

Thanks to the high performance, suitable parameters can be set for every application. The flexibility of the devices also enables simple integration and adaptation for the machining tasks at hand.

Overcome existing challenges with VibroCut oscillate

VibroCut oscillate represents high performance to ensure reliable chip breaking even in demanding turning processes. With oscillation-assisted turning, reliable chip breaking can be achieved in soft materials such as plastics, aluminum and copper alloys as well as in tough or difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steels and titanium and nickel-based alloys.

In addition, VibroCut oscillate is particularly suitable for challenging turning operations such as internal machining as well as radial and axial grooving. Centric drilling with a stationary tool is also possible on lathes.

As with driven tools, operation is carried out by setting the speed of the turret drive. The oscillation width is set via a mechanism on the tool holder. In addition, VibroCut oscillate is designed to work reliably even under high loads without sacrificing performance.

The modular design and flexible connection options allow the system to be seamlessly integrated into different machine concepts – for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness in series and single-part production as well as for new and existing machines.

VibroCut oscillate ensures reliable chip breaking even under challenging conditions. This prevents machine downtimes due to chip breaking and therefore unproductive times. This significantly increases economic efficiency in series production.

The high process reliability ensures reliable production. Automation and unmanned machine operation are often only possible once chip breaking problems have been solved. This is where VibroCut oscillate helps to reduce personnel deployment in production and save considerable costs.

Furthermore, manual chip removal is no longer necessary, which is a major risk factor for accidents at work. In addition, short broken chips ensure greater efficiency in chip transportation and processing. Due to its many advantages, VibroCut oscillate has a return on investment of less than one year in many applications.
